Dulce secreto ./. Sweet secret

Mientras otros se ocupan de las noticias importantes en nuestro periódico, mi cometido es aportar el toque insustancial, lo anecdótico, el momento relajado de lectura. Seamos sinceros, soy el nuevo y no me ofrecen otra cosa mejor todavía.

While others deal with the important news in our newspaper, my assignment is to contribute with the unsubstantial touch, the anecdotal thing, the relaxed moment of reading. I go be sincere, I am the new one and they do not offer me another best thing yet.

Aguien se empeña en que este pequeño pueblo perdido en el mapa tiene algo especial.

Somebody says that this small village lost in the map has a special thing.

Dicen que una tarta hecha aquí sabe mejor que de ningún otro lugar en la Tierra.

Say that a cake here has the better taste that in another place on Earth.

Todo es cuestión de comprobarlo. Afortunadamente me atienden con gran simpatía y me invitan a probarlas.

It will be easy to check. Fortunately serve me kindly and invited me to try.

-Tengo que admitir que son deliciosas, es muy merecida tu fama.

-Mis recetas son parte del secreto, pero aún hay más. Los ingredientes que uso son especiales.

-I have to admit that they are delicious. your reputation is deserved.

-My recipes are part of the secret, but there's more. The ingredients used are special.

-¿Que lo hace especiales?

-Como ves aquí todo es producido de forma absolutamente natural. Pero del sitio donde yo uso mis ingredientes hay algo más.

- What makes it special?

- As you see here everything is produced in an absolutely natural. But from where I use my ingredients there is more.

- Se vé interesante.

- Algunas cosas pueden parecerte magia, pero son así.

- This is interesting.

- Some things may seem like magic, but they are well.

Me hizo dirigirme a una extraña casa abandonada.

She shows me the way to a strange abandoned house.

Cada año un nuevo violín se incorpora a estos que duermen en el estanque helado. 

Each year a new violin joins those who sleep on the frozen pond.

Dudo que estas máquinas tan viejas funcionen.

I doubt that these very old machines work.

Los establos estan muy cuidados, las vacas tienen una vida muy plácida. Esto debe influir en la calidad de la leche. Pero es algo obvio, no encuentro magia en ello.

The stables are very careful, cows have a very quiet life. This should influence the milk quality. But it's obvious, I don't find magic in it.

Hasta los animales que viven salvajes parecen gozar de una saludable vida en este lugar.

Even wild animals seem to enjoy living a healthy life in this place.

Al seguir el camino noto algo distinto, el lugar parece suspendido en el tiempo. Una melodía que flota en el ambiente me hace desear jugar en las vias del viejo tren.

On the way I notice something different, the place seems suspended in time. A melody that floats in the air makes me want to play in the old train railway.

A lo lejos veo cosas increibles, sillas que vuelan.

In the distance I see incredible things, chairs flying.

Alguien ha recogido la cosecha, es como si todas las estaciones se unieran en un solo día.

Someone has collected the harvest, it is as if all seasons were jointed in a single day.

Las notas salen del violín pero no veo a nadie tocando.

The music comes out of the violin, but i don't see anyone playing.

El anciano que vivía en esta granja murío hace años. Se pasaba el tiempo tocando el violín esperando el regreso de su hijo desaparecido en la guerra.

The oldman who lived on this farm died years ago. He spent time playing the violin

awaiting the return of her missing son in the war.

Tal vez ahora, por fin juntos, recogen una cosecha que viene directamente del cielo.

Perhaps now, finally together, they reap a harvest that comes straight from heaven.

ROMA ./. Rome

Afortunadamente naves de guerra de Cartago nos han precedido. Los piratas tirrenos son un peligro para sus rutas comerciales. Antes fueron sus aliados contra los griegos y juntos frenaron nuestra expasión, pero ahora compiten por estas aguas y sus islas.

Lucky  Carthage warships have preceded us. The tyrrhenians pirates are a danger for his commercial routes. Before they were his allies against the greeks and united they stopped our expasión, but now they compete for these waters and the islands.

Hace mucho tiempo, en su huida, el legendario Eneas llegó aquí para establecerse en la tierra de los latinos y fundir con ellos su sangre troyana.

Long time ago, in his flight, the legendary Aeneas came here to be established in the land of the Latin people and to fuse with them the trojan blood.

El puerto está alejado de la ciudad. Hay una gran actividad comercial en él.

The port is far from the city. There is a great commercial activity

Un excelente caballo romano me servirá para salir de la aldea portuaria en dirección a la ciudad.

An excellent Roman horse will serve me to go out of the port village towards the city.

Mi primera impresión es de una ciudad muy  poblada y dinámica.

My first impression is of a very populated and dynamic city.

A pesar de ser una gran urbe su gente esta  muy apegada al campo y su máxima ilusión es tener tierras y trabajarlas.

Though it is to great city, the people spirit is in the field, the bigger desire is to have lands and to work in them.

Roma tuvo reyes tirrenos, que aquí llaman etruscos. Fué una gran influencia para la ciudad pero el pueblo destronó al rey extranjero para fundar una República.

Rome had tyrrhenians kings, that here etruscans call. It was a great influence for the city but the people overthrew the foreign king to found a Republic.

Desde entonces los notables de la ciudad la dirigen a traves de un complejo reparto de poderes, donde el Senado es su piedra fundamental.

Since then the nobility people direct her across a complex distribution of power, where the Senate is the fundamental stone.

Los romanos son celosos de sus costumbres y su tradición. Pero a la vez son gente muy abierta y les encanta todo lo exótico y novedoso.

Romans are unconditional of his behaviors and tradition. But simultaneously they are a very opened people and they are charmed with everything exotic and new.

Son hospitalarios con todo aquel que quiera formar parte de su ciudad.  También  son muy prácticos y aprenden de otras civilizaciones todo aquello que puede aportarles progreso y beneficio.

They are hospitable with all people that wants to join the city. Also they are very practical and learn of other civilizations all that can contribute progress and benefit.

Estan  rodeados de pueblos poderosos y guerreros. Por eso el templo dedicado al Jano dios de las dos caras rara vez ha cerrado la puerta que significa que viven en paz.

They are surrounded with powerful and warlike peoples. Because of it the temple dedicated to the Janus the god of both faces rarely has closed the door that means that they live in peace.

Me pregunto porque los dioses me han traido a este lugar. Mis pasos se acercan a un templo.

I wonder because the gods have brought me to this place. My steps approach a temple.

Una sacerdotisa vestal se me ha aproximado, segun tengo entendido tienen mucho poder premonitorio.

A vestal priestess comes close to me, as I have understood they have a lot of prophecy power.

-Sabía que venias aquí. Te ví anoche en el fuego sagrado. La diosa me dice que tu viaje no ha terminado. Regresarás a Roma pero antes visitaras tierras muy lejanas.

- I knew that you were coming here. I saw you last night in the sacred fire. The goddess says to me that your trip has not ended. You will return to Rome but before you were visiting very distant lands.
